You're putting in the hours. The marks aren't matching.

I get it. It feels like you're studying hard and trying everything, and your mark still lands in the same place it always does.

Almost every student who comes to me believes they're studying correctly, and can't work out why their grades won't budge. Usually it's this: nobody ever taught them the academic skills a psychology degree quietly assumes you already have. That's where we come in.

We take a holistic approach

Three things decide how you go in a psychology degree. We work on all of them.

Academic skills

The skills the degree assumes you arrived with and never actually teaches. Writing, structure, building an argument, synthesis, critical analysis, APA 7 referencing, research proposals and exam technique.

Course content

The material itself. Statistics and research methods, theory, the units that break people, and the software nobody walks you through, including SPSS, jamovi and JASP.

Mindset

How you learn, when you learn, and what you believe about your own ability. Memory and attention, executive function, procrastination that's actually avoidance, and study systems that look great in week one and have collapsed by week six.

Most tutoring only touches one or two of these. That's why a student can have every skill and still leave it all to the last minute, or do everything right and watch the mark stay exactly where it was.

Psychology education, three ways

The main thing

Private tutoring

One-on-one sessions, online, for undergraduate and postgraduate psychology students. Bring the unit you're stuck on, the assignment that's due, or the semester you've already fallen behind in. Sessions are built around what you need that week.

Workshops

Group sessions on the things that trip up nearly everyone. Statistics, APA 7 referencing, exam preparation, lit reviews and research reports.

Resources

Guides, templates and study tools made specifically for psychology students, so you're not trying to force generic study advice onto a psych degree.

Hi, I'm Kyra

After graduating with a Bachelor of Psychological Science I decided to go down the research pathway and focus on childhood trauma.

I started tutoring in 2022, when my university asked me to come on as a resident tutor, and went private not long after. Since then I've worked with more than 500 students at almost every university in Australia, which means I'm used to picking up an unfamiliar unit outline and working out what that particular school wants.

I also have ADHD. Every study method I was handed at university assumed a brain that worked differently to mine, so I built my own instead. Those methods are what got me 100% on assignments and exams, and they're a lot of what I teach now, particularly to students who have been told they just need to try harder.

  • Bachelor of Psychological Science, graduated 2024
  • Valedictorian, and 14 university awards
  • Co-author on published psychology research
  • Tutoring since 2022, 500+ students, almost every Australian university

Published research: Emotional freedom techniques, forgiveness and mental health (Cogent Psychology, 2025) and a school mindfulness meditation trial (Psychology in the Schools, 2024).

What students say

Not only is she highly knowledgeable in psychology, especially in stats, she also has excellent attention to detail. I've been able to get HDs in my subjects because of her.

Ken

Most helpful tutoring session I've ever had. Specific strategies for learning and constructive advice about exam preparation. I feel hopeful about university again.

Brittany

I was so scared about having someone read over my work, but Kyra truly makes it such a good experience. She is for real helping me get through Honours year.

Shandelle

She worked with me to facilitate a plan of action to increase my statistics knowledge. Methodical in her approach, utilising templates and rubrics to narrow in on specific requirements.

Michael

Kyra helped me get my head around statistics. She was patient, encouraging and gave me key study techniques I will use throughout the rest of my uni journey. I believe her support helped me pass.

Tiffany

She was able to help me wrap my head around a lot of content in a short period of time and I ended up doing really well in my exam.
